Introduction

I am a Senior Accredited member of the BACP with over 18 years experience in providing clinically supervised counselling to individuals.

I have extensive experience in providing short term therapy and longer term explorative counselling across a variety of settings including private practice, educational and the NHS.

I am trained and experienced in providing a number of evidence based modalities, working from an integrative perspective to offer tailor-made treatment plans, specific to individual need.

It is my belief that emotional distress, discomfort or unhappiness is often caused by being disconnected from who we really are and/or the people around us. In everyday life, we respond to events in ways that are often unhelpful or counterproductive to our happiness or sense of wellbeing. These responses stem from learned patterns of behaviour or ways of being that have become ingrained in how we present to the world. These responses play out most often at an unconscious level where, even when we may be aware of what we are doing, we are not in touch with the root cause of why we are doing it.

For me, personal therapy is often about finding solutions to the problems that present in our lives. It can also be about taking the time to allow and recognise how we feel and then exploring to understand why we feel it.

I believe that knowledge is power, and the more that we are able to understand ourselves and how the events in our lives have shaped us and influence us now, the better able we are to take charge of our lives and not be swept along in repeated and unhelpful patterns of thinking or behaviour.
