Introduction

I’m a psychotherapeutic counsellor and clinical supervisor working with children (age 7+), teenagers and adults facing a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, self-harming behaviours, neurodivergence and more. I offer one-to-one counselling on either a short or long term basis, depending on circumstances.

There might be a number of reasons you’re reading my profile; perhaps your child has been in distress or needs help with a specific issue, maybe you are struggling to come to terms with a loss or traumatic event, or you might feel lost, unsure of what direction you want your life to take. Whatever the reason, as your therapist I would be honoured to help you or your child to overcome these obstacles and approach the future with a clearer view.

What to expect from child & teenage therapy:

I use child-friendly and age-appropriate therapy techniques to help my young clients learn how to handle big feelings, overcome fears and adapt to changes or tough periods in life. Therapy techniques might include games, books, art and craft activities, and of course talking and listening.

It’s essential that we build trust so that my young clients can feel comfortable sharing feelings, in this way we can work to uncover difficult emotions, discover any underlying causes and triggers and develop coping strategies that will help them understand and channel their feelings in more productive ways.

What to expect from adult therapy:

My approach – which is rooted in the person-centred therapeutic modality – is tailored to the needs of the individual and can include creative therapy, alongside traditional talking and strategy based work. We will focus on whatever you feel is important to bring to our sessions, and I will respond to that by providing you with support and gentle, respectful challenges to promote better understanding and a canvas for growth. We may also explore some of your past experiences to consider how they have impacted your behaviour and relationships now.

I offer experience of working in a wide range of specialist settings, including children’s therapeutic services, schools, colleges, parenting support services (including Home Start) and private practice.

I firmly believe that we can all benefit from counselling; from the experience of being listened to without judgement, and helped to not only understand ourselves better but to heal, grow and thrive despite life’s challenges. I look forward to meeting you.
