Introduction
Hi, I’m Jo. I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and teacher of yoga and mindfulness. I have experience of working with adults and young people with a range of presenting issues such as anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, addiction, substance abuse, bereavement, low self esteem, relationship issues, self harm, eating disorders, ADHD and autism.
I have experience of working in schools, as I am qualified with MiSP (Mindfulness in Schools Programme) to deliver mindfulness courses to students and staff.
My approach is relational, building a safe and trusting relationship with my clients. For some it takes a great deal of courage to embark on a therapeutic journey, walking into the therapy room for the first time. The initial assessment can be a process that can last for 3 – 4 weeks to explore what is emerging for the client and what he or she wants from the therapy.
I work with phenomenological enquiry, exploring what is emerging in the moment using imagery, metaphor, sand tray, art materials and postcards to allow more insight into the client’s inner world. I interweave when appropriate breathwork, grounding techniques and somatic movement, offering the client opportunities for psycho-education in self regulation and awareness.
As well as working in private practice, I am also Therapeutic Lead with Ealing Schools Counselling Partnership. I set up the counselling service at Greenford High School, working with students, parents and teaching staff, while also managing a team of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists.
As part of my own health and wellbeing I love walking in nature, yoga, meditation, art and music, being with family and friends. Self care and self compassion is an important and continuous part of my process as a therapist and practitioner.
