Introduction
I am a warm, approachable and highly experienced Psychotherapeutic Counsellor & Supervisor working in private practice with adults and young people (11+).
Having originally trained in Therapeutic Counselling, I integrate person centred and psychodynamic approaches within the safety of a therapeutic relationship. Person centred counselling works in the ‘here and now’ with a focus on empowering you to reach your full potential. Psychodynamic builds on this to explore how past experiences may be unconsciously impacting this ‘here and now’. Integration means I can draw upon these ways of working to best suit your needs, at your own pace.
I believe in the transformative power of therapy and will support you to share your emotional struggles through meaningful conversations that offer hope for the future. I recognise it can be a huge relief to talk to someone impartial about difficult thoughts and feelings. Therefore, the counselling offered provides a confidential, non-judgmental space where we aim to work together to make sense of your experiences and gain greater self-understanding to take care of your future mental well-being.
Over time I’ve gained experience working across a broad range of issues with particular areas of focus being anxiety, depression, addictions, self-harm, suicidal ideation, neurodiversity and trauma recovery.
I am specially trained to work with young people and have been a School Counsellor for many years. Alongside my private practice, I hold a clinical role at No5 Young People supporting the work of a team of School Counsellors in the Reading area. When working with young people I adapt my core approach to be more proactive and creative to fit the age and developmental stage.
As a supervisor I’m trained to work psychotherapeutically across modalities with a focus on the Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision. I have experience in working with qualified counsellors and trainees, on an individual or group basis, supporting their work with adults and young people.
