Introduction
Counselling provides a place of honesty for all the battles in our heads, from medical diagnoses, financial worries, past trauma and issues of sexuality or gender, to self doubt and everyday compulsive negative thinking. However complex, we can move forward by reconciling seemingly conflicting pieces of ourselves, making our daily lives more comfortable and also allowing us to live more authentically.
We live in a world that changes rapidly, where we are surrounded by limitless and often contradictory information that can leave us feeling isolated and overwhelmed. Is it any wonder our confidence and self esteem are bruised along the way? I believe understanding yourself and your actions differently, understanding you have done what was needed to to get this far and having compassion for yourself, is key.
All too often our younger selves encountered problems that we were not able to deal with, leaving us without a clear understanding of ourselves. Finding, and maintaining, personal meaning amongst so much uncertainty is tough and can be a lonely task.
However, you’ve decided to step towards a different future you needn’t deal with it all alone. I would consider it a privilege to be a part of your journey.
Counselling can reduce anxiety, ease depression and deepen our self belief as we strive to create a personal harmony between the internal and external tensions and find acceptance.
My therapeutic work is rooted in person-centred and existential philosophies, which means I aim to approach the experience of life with curiosity and wonder. If you were to contact me, we could face your unique challenges together, meeting and responding to them in a way that works best for you.
I consider myself an ally to those who have found their personal orientations, interests and experiences beyond the conventional and cherish the opportunity to work with individuals who may find themselves marginalised for their way of being. I believe it is possible to
overcome the negativity we have encountered and internalised and transform difficult feelings. My invitation is that we take pride in all that you bring and celebrate the richness of all that is you.
I have personal and professional experience and understanding of neurodiversity. Whether you have clinical diagnosis or not, I believe we are able to move from a blunt descriptor, through curious discussion towards making meaning and finding what works best for us. We can explore collaboratively and celebrate your individual qualities and support the fulfilment of your unique potential.
